Trevor Peters is an award winning sound designer, a sound engineer, the owner of Matrix Sound LLC and the founder of TIVOLE. His technical ability and broad event experience enabled him to relocate from South Africa to the USA in 2016. As a sound designer he has numerous opportunities to be on stage and experience the musicians unique perspective of the sound while performing. TIVOLE emulates this powerful experience and elevates it by enabling the audience to take personal control of the musical elements.

While stereo sound is primarily left and right and surround sound is all around the listener in the horizontal plane, immersive sound is positioned in 3D, utilising width, depth and height (X,Y and Z axes). This provides the ability to place sound sources virtually anywhere in the listening space. Sophisticated processing software and the calculated placement of speakers (audio sources) makes this experience possible.

Music is recorded or created using tracks, individual tracks could be instruments, vocals or even synthesized samples. In larger orchestrations, numerous similar instruments can be grouped together to form a section, a brass section in big band or a string section in an orchestra are examples of this. When playing music back on multitrack software, these individual voices, instruments or complete sections are referred to as stems. TIVOLE takes a piece of music, separates it into stems and then uses multitrack systems in combination with immersive audio software to send the stems to different speakers placed in the listening area. Taking it a step further, each stem is controlled by a simple touch interface enabling audience members to play an active role in the creation of the final musical product.

TIVOLE is not designed for classical music only. Content choices include Jazz and Blues, Rock and Pop and various styles of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Hip Hop. In fact, there are tracks available that broaden musical horizons by combining the likes of classical with EDM. While these have great entertainment value, they are also an integral part of the team building modules illustrating how easily preferences, cultures and interests can converge with a solid beat and great arrangements.
